5 Useful Tips for Event Day Signage
Great event day signage helps participants find what they are looking for, and are always a terrific way to recognize sponsors, top fundraisers and teams. Here are 5 tips to think about when making the signage for your event:
1. Think about your location. Materials work best in different places. A gala-esque step and repeat will turn into a sail if set outside.
2. Find a local printer that has experience. Have a conversation about what you really need and listen to their advice. They will steer you in the right direction, and many offer design services for a nominal price so you don’t have to waste staff time with layout.
3. Don’t forget the gromets. I can’t count how many times I have seen volunteers and staff racing around with scissors to poke holes in banners on the day of an event.
4. Bring lots and lots of zip ties. You can never have enough zip ties. Make chains of them to lower tent signs below the cover flaps so they can be seen.
5. Check with your location about their rules for posting signage. Many venues will not allow tape on the walls so you will need A-frames. Some locations will not allow you to poke holes into the ground with H-frames. Make sure that the day of the event is not the day you find out about these rules.
